Obituary of Ltc. James R. Sanders

Ltc. James R. Sanders (Retired)Husband, Father, Brother and Grandfather we loved dearly. Born April 23, 1929 in Nashville, TN. Passed away on December 15th peacefully at home in Lacey after a long illness. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Verda Smith Sanders of 54 years. 5 children Deborah Leibel University Place, Michael Sanders Pt. Vedra Florida, Gail Sanders Federal Way, Scott Sanders Olympia and Laura Ross Port Orchard, and 7 grandchildren, Marcus, Ava, Aliesha, Sasha, Adian, Emily & Elise and 5 siblings Joy, Wayne, David, Faye, Ray. Preceded in death by parents James L and Laura Hall Sanders, and Brother Paul. James “Jim” was a veteran of the Korean, Vietnam & Belgian Congo Conflict. Fearless, he flew his helicopter into enemy territory saving 115 lives. Jim was honored with the DFC and many other metals. Retiring in 1969 Jim ran Sanders Business Service a tax service for 30 years with his wife Verda. His passions were flying, fishing and spending time with his family. Military honors will be presented at Tahoma Memorial, December 21 at 11:15 AM. We love you and will miss you Jim Bob.
