Obituary of Edward Hugh Salter

EDWARD HUGH SALTER September 7, 1933 to July 26, 2004Ed passed away at Harborview Medical Center as a result of an earlier accident which occurred in Maytown on July 22, 2004. Ed is survived by his wife of 32 years, Nora Mae Salter, Olympia; daughters, Kristi Salter, of Edmonds, Cindi Hyce, of Lynnwood; step-sons, Gregg Shields, of Lodgepole, Montana, Jeff Calica, of Honolulu, Hawaii, Fred Calica, Jr., Randy Calica, Sr., and Darryl Calica, all of Aberdeen; step-daughter, Lynn Henderson, of Palmdale, California; brothers, Richard Salter, of Boston Harbor, Raymond Salter, of Maytown; sister, Eunice Ness, of Olympia, also 22 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren along with numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ottis and Nellie Salter; son, Larry E. Salter; step-daughter, Laura M. Brown. Ed was a Navy-Korean war veteran, 1951-1954. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 0164 of Yelm. He was a Certified Thurstoneer, a descendant of the original pioneers of Thurston County. Ed was a retired self-employed truck driver who loved the outdoors and working with his hands. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and clam digging along with working on all kinds of machinery, big and small. He also loved family gatherings and enjoyed crossword puzzles, carpentry work and expanding his “Toy Truck and Car” collection, but most of all, he enjoyed playing with his 2 year old Shit-Tzu, Jewels. At Ed’s request there will be no services held. Donations may be sent to the Little Rock Fire Department, 10828 Littlerock Road SW, Olympia, Washington, 98512.
