Obituary of Wayne Ruffcorn

Wayne G. Ruffcorn of Olympia passed away peacefully, July 13th at the age of 90, surrounded by his loving family.Born in a sod house in Reeder North Dakota on October 20, 1918 to Albert and Viola Mae Ruffcorn, Wayne was raised on a farm in the mid-west and developed a love for animals and the outdoors. Wayne graduated high school in Dunlap, Iowa in 1937 and shortly thereafter joined the Army Air Corp to defend our country in WWII. During this time he met and wed Mary Anna Squair of St. Edward Nebraska. After his Military service Wayne was a Registered Biological Photographer for 35 years at Madigan Army Medical Center. His passion was raising Arabian horses in Yelm and was an avid fisherman. Wayne met his current wife Ann while ballroom dancing and they married in 1988. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Mary Anna, brothers Howard and Al. Wayne is survived by his wife Ann, Olympia, WA, sister Zona Travis of Omaha NE, daughter Linda Harvill, Salt Lake City, UT and son James (Debbie) Auburn, WA, grandchildren are Nathan, Brayton, Sequim, WA, Melissa (Chris), great grandson Lucas, Stratham NH, step grandchildren Brent & Lindsay Hogenson, Auburn WA, niece, Anita Nimtz, Ames IA, nephews, David Travis, Chicago, IL, Howard & Les Ruffcorn, Yakima, WA. We have indeed lost a truly amazing man and father who will be missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held in his honor at the Grand Holiday Ballroom, 1522-4th Ave E, Olympia, WA, Friday, July 17th at 11:00am. (parking is across the street).
