Obituary of Daniel Joseph Ruden

Daniel Joseph Ruden Daniel Joseph Ruden died on July 28, 2008 at his home in Olympia after a courageous fight with lung cancer. Dan was born July 27, 1932 to Mary and Roy Ruden in Grand Junction, Colorado. Dan graduated from Carbon County High School in Price, Utah. He was later drafted into the United States Army and stationed at Fort Lewis. It was during this time at Fort Lewis that he met wife, Edelyn Moe and married in 1954. In 1957, Dan started work as a pinsetter at “The Bowl”, where he found one of his true passions, bowling. Dan learned the ropes under then owner, Archie Caldwell and in 1972 he purchased “The Bowl” later know as “Aztec Lanes”. In his 50 + years of service at the lanes Dan made many dear friends and touched the lives of many. Dan was hard-working, honest, and stubborn. Dan loved bowling, golfing, The Seahawks, ladies and a good drink! He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events. Dan always had an incredible sense of humor and passion for life. Dan loved his family and friends more than anything else in the world. We all love him with all our hearts! Dan (Boone, dad, and papa) will be greatly missed by brothers Sam Ruden and Roy Ruden; sister, Dotty Perrero; daughter, Danielle Ruden (Mike); grandson, Daniel Brathovd (April); granddaughters, Jessica Warta (Greg), Tiphanie Bulloch (Caleb), and Lindsey Brathovd; great grandchildren, Cortnie, Mackenzie, Rile, Allison, Gabriella, Emelia, Greigh, Kiana; and all his friends. Dan was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edelyn; sisters, Mary, Diane, Barbara, Christine, and Theresa; and Brother Joe. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday August 3, 2008 at Aztec Lanes, 2825 Martin Way, Olympia.
