Obituary of Sylvia May Rousseau

Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Wednesday, March 26 at Calvary Community Church Sylvia May Rousseau (Yates) December 19, 1938 ~ March 22, 2008 Surrounded by her friends and family, Sylvia May Rousseau passed away peacefully on 3/22/08. Sylvia was born in Mexico, Missouri on Dec 19, 1938 to Charles and Margie Yates. Her family moved to Washington in 1946 where she resided in Puyallup for most of her life. Sylvia graduated from Puyallup High school in 1956 and worked as a childcare provider, an adult home care provider, and a retail clerk at various stores in the Puyallup community. Sylvia was a loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother, and had many friends that will dearly miss her. Sylvia was an active member of many clubs which included the Eagles, SRC, Red Hat Society, Sigma Beta Phi, and the Calvary Community Church of Sumner. Throughout her life, Sylvia loved to entertain friends and family, home interior decorating, working in her yard, spending time in her garden, and reading a good book. She also loved going to the movies, camping with her family, listening to the rain, playing with her wonderful dog Obie, and most of all, supporting her kids and grandkids in their sporting events and activities. Sylvia has always stated that her proudest accomplishment was raising her four children on her own. Sylvia is survived by her husband Fred, brother Ronald Yates, daughter Bambi (Greg) Hiron, sons Gary “Bucky” (Carmela) Buchanan, Randy (Corrine) Buchanan, and Troy (fiancée, Jeannie) Wilson; a step-son, Michael (Layne) Rousseau; also two step-daughters, Marie (Terry) Rousseau and Barbara (Norman) Navarro. Her heart belonged to her 16 grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Buchanan, Jacquelyn Jean Buchanan, Seth Allen Martin, Jordan Ari Martin, Ashley Lynn Buchanan, Charissa Maye Buchanan, Blair Raymond Buchanan, Candice Diana Buchanan, Clarice Juliet Buchanan, Keanu Wilson, Taylor May Wilson, Kevin Navarro, Adam Navarro, Beau Rousseau, Katie Joy Rousseau, and Matthew Michael Rousseau. Her family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to all her caregivers at St. Josephs Hospital and the Franciscan Hospice House. A viewing will be held on 3/26/08 between 2:00 – 5:00pm, and services will be held on 3/27/08 from 9:00 to 11:00am at the Calvary Community Church of Sumner (15116 Gary St Sumner, WA) followed by graveside services at Woodbine Cemetery in Puyallup, Washington.
