Obituary of Elsie May Rose

Elsie May (Johnson) RoseOn October 16, 2004 Elsie, a loving mother, daughter, and sister was wrapped in the Lords arms and carried home after a long fight with congestive heart failure. Born in Bayview, Idaho on July 25, 1923 to William and Lillie Johnson. She then married Larry Baker, had two children Lynette Baker of Portland, Oregon and Terri (Jim) Gilbert of Olympia, Washington. She leaves behind her two daughters, three sisters Helen Williams, Marian (Dick) Kasparian, and Juanita (Cal) Leppell and one brother Kenneth Johnson, and one very special niece Patty Leach (Albert’s daughter) among numerous nieces and nephews. Elsie also was a loving grandmother to eight grandchildren Robert Engh, Brad Engh, Heather Engh, Christopher Gilbert, Nicholas Gilbert, Michael Cairns, Marc Gilbert, and David Cairns, and two great grandchildren Devon Gilbert and Casper Engh. Elsie was preceded in death by her Grandpa Webb, mother and father, brother Albert Johnson, brother in-law Richard Williams, sister in-law Melva Johnson and great grandchild Tre’von Gilbert. Elsie’s life was very wonderful, she traveled, loved doing crafts and working with people of all ages. She was a nurse’s aid before becoming a childcare provider. Upon retirement she came to live with her daughter Terri and they spent a lot of wonderful years together, spending time with her grandchildren, dancing at the eagles club with her girlfriends, an avid reader, a member of Faith Lutheran Church, had a great sense of humor, very strong willed, and loved spending time with her family. As per Elsie’s request no formal services will be held. Family memorial was held bedside at Saint Peter’s Memorial Hospital and a private family celebration of life will be held in Spokane, Washington on October 30, 2004. WE LOVE YOU GRANDMA
