Obituary of Robert Robison

Robert Stover Robison Robert Stover Robison, age 94, passed peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2011. Born on March 28, 1917 Barneston, WA, Bob was the son of Walter H. and Dorothea (Stover) Robison. He asked Betty Jane Hart out at the UW Suzallo Library and married her before leaving for Columbia College. Bob was a native to the Puget Sound area and finished his academic career with a degree from UW in Fisheries, Biology and Zoology. While working his way through college he held several jobs; first as a Jr. Biological Aide at Rock Island Dam working for US Bureau of Fisheries, the next year he did the same thing but for Fish and Wildlife Services. The next summer he went to work at Yellowstone National Park as a Sr. Fish Culturist for Fish and Wildlife Services and the last summer as a Hatchery Assistant in Vancouver for the Dept. of Game. During WWII, Bob joined the Navy and in due time became a lieutenant with his own command. Few people remember now, but in the early days of WWII, the most intensive battle for the US was going on just off our East Coast and the Germans were winning. At the beginning of Bob’s sea going career, he was aboard a ship just off the New York coast when a submarine surfaced and sank them with gunfire. Bob was among the lucky ten survivors. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Betty, his sister Virginia King, his six kids; Jeff and his wife Shinobu, Mark , Tim Robison and his significant other Sandra, Marcia and her husband Jack Holt, Colleen and her husband Misha Potuzak and Laurel and her husband David Gunsaulus, 3 grandkids; Maia Weigel, Tessia and Aron Potuzak and one great grandson, Aiden Weigel. He was a biologist and ended his career as the Assistant Director Of Washington State Department of Fisheries after 31 years of service. He and Betty traveled the world. He loved sailing on his boat "Old Salt". He enjoyed hiking, kayaking and was a #1 Husky fan. He loved family get togethers' at their lakeside home in Olympia.
