Dear Carmen and fam. I must tell you last year I had this heavy burden to find Duane but was unable to!!!! The Lord was letting me know of his passing. I have the best memories of Duane and owe my education to his faithfulnes and loving counseling. In the early 70s Duane took me under "his wings" and helped me through some dark times in my life. I thank God for his faithfulnes and even tho I am sorry to find him now to find that he is with the Lord. I wanted to let you know how loved Duane still is and I will forever remember him with such love and respect. Flor

Duane is home - something he dearly longed for and with our Lord. Pastor Duane was a true child of God who would admit that his body was tired at times but his desire to teach the true word of God excited him. Thank you Carmen and your father for loving and supporting Duane with his journey here on earth. Thank you for letting be a small part of your life Duane.

Pastor Duane was absolutely the most focused, intense and loving pastor I have ever seen. He knew the truth of God's word forwards and backwards and NEVER took a shortcut! He was a jack of all trades and master of all. He helped everyone who took the time to know him. I learned a lot from him, he reinforced my faith and tied everything together between the OT and NT. He never compromised God's word. There was no one more discerning more than him and I will never look at anything the same again. I am a better man for knowing him and I am truly blessed for being part of his life. There will never be another Duane.

I met Duane Rea when I first moved to Olympia, WA in 1999. He helped me move and get stuff I needed to start on my own. He was such an inspiration to everyone who met him, I always enjoyed being around him. I could just ask him anything he always had an answer and good advise. He was an excellent man of God and I will miss him dearly.

Duane Rea was like a father to me. I have known him since 1982 when he came to my small church in Westport, WA. I was part of the membership body that voted him in. We fast became friends and he was a man of God who wore many hats, one who in his knowledge happily shared with me and my family. Duane and I took many hunting and fishing trips together, he was there for me when I was at my lowest. He and Carmen took me in when I had no where else to go. He helped me in me education and job training and gave me God's word at every turn. He was the pastor who married my wife and I only if we promised to do post marriage counseling as well. He helped me with household upkeep and knowledge and came over to our home every Thursday night for a bible study for the last 6 years. He taught me how to be a man of God and the man God wanted me to be for my family. I will miss him everyday but will see him again one day in heaven. He was my dad!

I am confident that a remarkable & dedicated "servant of God" has entered into his eternal reward. I remember Duane Rea as an erudite & passionate champion of the Gospel message. I encountered Duane Rea as a newly installed pastor at Twin Harbors Baptist Church in Westport. This was in 1983. I am the beneficiary of a classical Jesuit education, but never had I heard the Gospel delivered as eloquently & with such conviction. Pastor Rea led me to the Lord & baptized me in 1984. Rest in peace, Pastor Rea.

So very sorry to hear that your dear husband Duane passed away suddenly. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in this great loss. Hope we can see you when you have a service for Duane here locally for us. May God bless you and give you His comfort and peace. Bill remembers when the two of us would crawl around the mountains with our bow and arrows hunting deer. The one time I didn't go was the time he got one, I was so upset that I wasn't there, but was happy for him. Love, Lois and Bill

Pastor Duane,
I feel very gracious and humbled to have known you; if even for a short time. I the little time we were able to spend together, you tought me lessons that will be carried on through the rest of my life and passed on to my own children. You understood me and my wife collectively and individually in a way nobody else could have. That was unquestionably intended by God and without your guidance and prayers, I would be affraid to think of where our marriage and our lives might be. I enjoyed sharing stories about the brotherhood in the fire service with you as only you and I could understand. I enjoyed learning the bible from you and the true meaning behind what so often appeared to me as only mere words. Of all of the things I am thankful for, I also want to apologize to you. I am sorry I did not seek you more and spend more time with you. You being one of the wisest men I have ever met; I should have spent more time with you soaking up as much wisdom as I could. However, in the midst of my regret, I promise to carry the lessons you taught me and teach them to others. I promise to lead by example and lead my house as you taught me. Lastly, I look forward to seeing you again one day. Thank you, Pastor. You will be missed but never forgotten!

I was 13 at that little church in WA a new believer and Duane instilled a love for the word in me!!! Every time I sat under his teaching I was drawn further into the presence of the Lord and went away wanting more!! He made the word come alive and...he made me passionate about it! You all opened your life to us when I desperately needed it and I have been forever changed! I will be there to mourn and celebrate with you a life lived for Jesus!

We enjoyed our brief time with Duane and Carmen. We fondly remember the dinner we shared at our home. It was evident, in the conversations we shared, that Duane was passionate in his faith and it was a central focus of his life.
We plan to come on Saturday to demonstrate our care for Carmen and we hope to have a moment with you to give her a hug.
In Christian love....William and Suzan
