Obituary of James Raffelson

Mossyrock James A. Raffelson a lifelong resident of Grays Harbor ended his time here on earth Wednesday January 11, 2006 in Providence Hospital in Centralia. He was 67. Born on January 3, 1939 in Aberdeen to Frank and Dorothy (Poe) Raffelson. He is survived by a sister; Janet (Raffelson) Sweet, of Westport and six brothers; Ronald of Cosmopolis, Kenneth of Olympia, Richard of Wynooche, and Thomas and Frank of Westport. He lived his childhood and teenage years in North Aberdeen and Johns River. He attended Weatherwax High School. He shared a year marriage to Jean (Flowers) Walkama, then divorced. Jim served 2 years in the United States Marine Reserves. He remarried on September 2, 1961 to Bonnie J. Kopecky living most of their lives in Cosmopolis. During this time he drove log truck for Weyerhaeuser, Mayr Brothers, and Henry Johnson Trucking. They lived a few years in East Hoquim and Mossyrock. Divorcing in 1997. He lived the remainder of his life in Mossyrock with his companion Loa Morley. He is survived by a son; Joe Raffelson of Cosmopolis, a daughter; Gail (Raffelson) Goeman of Kent, and two grandchildren; Cortney And Katie Goeman. Jim enjoyed time with family and friends, was a skilled fisherman and enjoyed hunting. He was a great handyman and often called on for help. He enjoyed doing small woodworking projects, canning, Car Shows and World Tournament Poker on his computer. He also enjoyed feeding a family of raccoons in the evenings. A celebration in his memory for family and friends will be shared at the Cosmopolis Lions Club on Saturday, January 28th from 1:00 to 4:00.
