I am a Dolciani-Halloran Project NExT Fellow and I feel proud to have the name of Denise and Tom's foundation associated with my name. Thank you. I was also lucky to have dinner with them in our meeting in Portland. It was wonderful to share a meal with people trying to do good things for others. It saddens me to hear about Tom. I feel for Denise's loss. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Tom was a former coworker and friend. As brothers-in-law we enjoyed many good times together. Though life experiences drew us apart, Tom always held a warm place in my heart. The World lost a good one. My condolences. Jim Mix, Oxford, MI

Tom and I both started our careers as probation officers in Pontiac in the late 1960's. We were next door apartment neighbors when we were both newly married in the early 70's.
Tom was a wonderful guy. A great friend and lot of fun to be with. He could be a rascal. He made some bold moves, like quitting his good job to pursue his MSW. Tom really was fearless in pursuit of bettering people in need.

My heart goes out to all of you that are/were a part of his life. He was a great guy w/ a great sublime sense of humor. Of all the Superintendents at NYC he is the one that I will most likely remember, in fond terms, the most. He was fair and TRIED to go by the rules usually saying; "I'm going out on a limb for this...". Funny, funny, guy. There is not enough honest humor like his,I miss it. I appreciated him. Sincerly, Deb

I'm so sorry to hear about Tom's passing. I worked for Tom years ago in the Pontiac, Mi. District Court. You lived in Royal Oak at that time. I can still picture the house with what I remember as yellow trim. My sincere condolences to the entire family.

My deepest sympathy is with you and your family. Life is so precious and to have it taken so suddenly is deeply painful. I met Denise and Tom at a dinner at MathFest in Portland in 2009. It was great to talk with them about how our livesand careers were improved by Project NExT and how grateful we are for the Dolciani Foundation support.

I am sorry for the loss of such a vital life. I so enjoyed spending time with Tom during Mathfest in Portland last year. Being able to see the faces behind the support for Project NExT was interesting. Tom seemed very interested and supportive of our community, as I am sure he was of others. He will be missed by many.

Denise, you are in my thoughts during this difficult time. My brief interactions with Tom and you last year at the Project NExT workshop in Portland made it clear that Tom was a thoughtful and well-read person, and was so interested in what the Fellows thought. I am grateful that Tom (and you) had the opportunity to spend some time with Project NExT and its Fellows -- the program has accrued many benefits because of your and Tom's interest and support. -- Aparna
