Obituary of Guy William Ploegman

Guy William Ploegman Guy passed away peacefully at home on December 7, 2009 after a courage battle against ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease). He was born June 13, 1954 at Madigan Army Hospital to Thaddieus F. Ploegman and Donna Jo Magura. Both had preceded him in death. Guy grew up in Lakewood and graduated from Lakes High School in 1972. He then attended Clover Park VTI. He worked for Audio Tech from 1971-1980, Lakewood Fire Department as a volunteer Firefighter and as the Department Photographer from1972 to1983. From 1972 to1980 he also worked for Channel 13 at Clover Park VTI, then KSTW Channel 11 from 1982 to1983. For the last 24 years of Guy’s career, he worked as a 911 Dispatch Supervisor for Fire Comm in Lakewood. He married Wendy Simmonds in 1990 and Amanda completed his family in 2000. Guy retired at the early age of 53. His passions were, being a stay at home, carpool Dad to Amanda, Collecting Pez dispensers, camping and travelling with his family. He also had a passion for anything electronic. He was always the finder of the great deal. Guy will be missed by so many for not only his integrity, honesty and hard work ethic, but for putting his family first in all things. Survivors include his wife Wendy and daughter Amanda; 3 sisters, JoRene Gourley (Doug), ID, Candy Ploegman (Bob Elliott), HI, Janine Ploegman (James Foss), WA. Guy’s family would like to thank the following for taking this journey with them and for making it more bearable, Lakewood Fire Department and Fire Comm for all of their love, support and getting it done.
