Obituary of Gaynel Williams Percer

Gaynel Williams Percer Gaynel Williams Percer was born with spina bifida and scoliosis on February 13, 1957 (Friday the 13th) in Dallas, TX. Gaynel was home or hospital schooled for much of her childhood. She was a graduate of East Texas State College. Active in the Spina Bifida Association of Texas, she fought to force her college campus to become accessible. As a teacher with the Weatherford Texas School District, she served on the advisory teams for special needs students, often designing computer programs that allowed students with cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy to do their class assignments on computers. She also taught computer classes for continuing education through Weatherford Community College. She worked for Borders Books in Puyallup and Olympia. Most recently, Gaynel worked for Washington Department of Health Statistics. She was a five-year survivor of breast cancer. She is survived by her domestic partner, Diane; step-daughter, Kaetryn Doane; step-son, Jason Hartley; granddaughter, Bonnie Martin; and sister, Raylene Williams.
