I just wanted to say what a wonderful lady Gerrie was. She was really a joy to work with for the staff of our school and a great blessing for the many students she worked with over the years. She helped countless children learn to read and do math and made each one feel special!

Dear family,
This is a message to let you know what your mother meant to me. I loved her like a mother...Her eyes were like a cloudless summer day, her smile made her glow and her laughter was music to my ears. I did her hair for the last 26 years and I shall treasure every moment spent with her, first at the salon, then at my house, later at her house, then the nursing home and lastly at Olympics West. Many, many times in the past year when I would leave I would hug her, kiss her cheek, and tell her I loved her and every time she hugged me back and looked into my eyes and said "I just want to live to be eighty years old" and after her birthday, I'd see her grow more weary with each passing week and prayed I'd see her next time. I was doing her hair when Zeke died all those years ago and I wondered how someone could love someone so much for so long...and she did. We shared the birth of my child, my fathers death, my 2 battles with breast cancer, the loss of my husband, many, many years of birthdays, Christmas's, New Years and hundreds of other ordinary days. I thanked God for her than as I do now. I was truly blessed to have her in my life. She was a gift all her own and when I unwrap the memories as I will do often as I pass Olympic's West each day on my way to work and on my way home she will live in my heart forever. She loved all of you sooo much and I feel as if I know most of you through her. She loved to share your lives with me as well, Jeff her only son and his beautiful wife Chris and their new house in Leavenworth, Mike and Lissie and Dan and Sarah in California and their beautiful home in Pleasanton (she loved to visit), and Becky, Bill and Joanna in Olympia, her sister and brother, and many, many friends in Minnesota, when she and Zeke were first married. I could go on forever but I won't except to share that we were lucky enough to share the same last name (Thompson) and always joked that we might be related. I've lost a dear, dear friend and I don't need to tell you that you've lost a wonderful mother, and grandmother. May the wonder of God's Grace be with you always...Marlynne
