I corresponded with and talked to Judge Parker about our common ancestor James Parker who came to Illinois from Virginia in 1836. We shared a lot of information. I'm sorry to learn of his passing. I may be contacted at: lineage5@verizon.net if the family has questions about James Parker that I may be able to answer.

Dear Margaret and family, my heartfelt condolences to you on your loss of Tom. It seems like just yesterday that we were sitting at our desks at IBM discussing our weekends and your dates with Tom. I am sure these last several years have been a challenge, but I know your positivity and good nature were a wonderful support to him. Your cards and kind words to us provided strength and hope that we could also handle Lee's struggle. I cannot thank you enough for that. Our prayers and sympathy are with you, and may the memories of your years together give you strength now. God Bless. Love Rita (and Lee)

We will all miss you dearly. You were a wonderful uncle, father, friend and dedicated Husky fan. You were always there to help and care for your sister, my mother and our family. Say "hi" to her for me. You were larger than life to me as a child and remained that way throughout the years. My love and prayers to Margaret and the rest of the family.

Having been out of town and returning to read of Judge Parkers passing was very sorrowful. I had the pleasure of working for him for 20 years in District Court #2. He was a good person and will be missed by many. My thoughts are with you Margaret and your family.

Dear Margaret: What a remarkably fulfilling life your dear husband Tom lived. We were classmates at the University of Washington Law School. Although we did not see each other regularly, we shared a bond which transcended time and distance. Please accept my prayers of comfort for you, your children, their spouses, and grandchildren. Dear Family of Tom:
Tom was a good man which is the essential requirement of a good judge. He was a person of integrity and justice. I have great respect for him and his career and believe he was a positive influence on all who appeared in his court.
From his fellow classmate of the U. of W. 1954.

After law school, I moved from Maine to take a job as a prosecutor in Grays Harbor and had many trials before Judge Parker. One memorable experience was when a pro se litigant was cited for speeding on his way to court to contest a speeding ticket issued by the same trooper. At trial, he was upset and asked the trooper if he didn't think that was harrassment to have stopped him for speeding just as he entered the county. The trooper said "no". Alas, the next question was "Well, what's harrassment then?". The trooper leaned back and said, "Well, harrassment is when you wake up in the morning and see me parked across the street in my cruiser... and when you get home at night, I'm still there." It was a jury trial and Tom (and I) had a little trouble keeping a straight face. Tom ran a good courtroom, which is a high compliment.

My first job after law school was as a deputy prosecutor in Grays Harbor County, and Judge Parker was the first judge I appeared before. He kindly allowed me to learn the difference between "book learning" and the true practice of law in his courtroom. I have often remembered his lessons in my own career as a District Court judge.

Dear Margaret and Family
On behalf of my father, Jim Stewart and myself, please our
condolences on your loss. Tom's Dad and mine were good friends
and colleagues in the law. I always appreciated the Judge's
thoughtful, but straight forward decisions. He was a true gentleman, and a fine jurist. He is missed.
