Obituary of Van D. Parker

Van D. Parker Van “Pa” passed away July 5th at his home in Lacey, with his wife by his side after a long battle of cancer. He was born in Portland, Oregon, raised in Walla Walla and spent most of his adult years in Kent. He worked 29 years for the city of Kent as a Senior Construction Inspector and was well respected in the field. He retired February 1, 2004. Van loved fishing, hunting, golfing and was an avid baseball fan. He also loved to travel and venture out to find new places. Van was a dedicated husband and father. “Pa” loved his grandchildren and spent long hours with them on his John Deere tractor. Van is survived by his wife of 15 years, Marilyn, 2 daughters, 2 sons and 8 grandchildren. He is also survived by 1 brother and 2 sisters. Pa is predeceased by “Mans best friend” Fred. Friends and family are invited to share in the celebration of Van’s life at St. James Episcopal Church, 24447 94th Ave. South, Kent on Friday, July 14th at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow in the church hall. We’ll miss you Pa!
