Obituary of Eugene Edward Palmer

Eugene (Gene) Edward Palmer Surrounded by family and loved ones, Gene died quietly and peacefully at home in Lacey, Washington, Monday, November 1, 2010. Born December 12, 1928 in Seattle, Washington to George and Evelyn Palmer, Gene attended West Seattle high School. On February 15, 1952. Gene married Corrinne Diemert. They lived in Enumclaw, Redondo and Tacoma before retiring to Lacey, Washington. Although never having received a high school diploma, he was a very successful businessman. Starting as a Bluprint Operator for Boeing , he went on to purchase Tacoma Reprographics and operated a sucessful business for 28 years, until retiring in 1997. During this period he was extremely active in the International Reprographics Association, eventually becoming President. Since 1970, Gene was an active member of Tacoma Rotary #8. He was also a board member of the Tacoma Council, Boy Scouts of America. Although polio kept Gene from military service, He was very generous to our troops and received numerous accolades for his many contributions and sponsorships. Full of life, Gene was a the consummate "man about town". During his years as a businessman, he could frequently be found at lunch time hanging out with his cronies at The Harborlights restaurant on the Tacoma waterfront, where he was always quick with a joke or story. Gene was proud of his Family and loved to have them around. He loved to show them off and was interested in their accomplishments and to brag to anyone willing to listen. Besides spending time with his family, his passions were travel and work. He was also and avid reader, especially enjoying mysteries based on locales he was familiar with. Gene is survived by his wife of 58 years, Corrinne; his children and their spouses, Susan and husband Tom, Bruce, David and wife Cheryl, Kathey and husband Gary, Sherri and husband Bob; his brother Robert and wife Nancy, sister Ruth and husband Roger; 10 grandchidren and 6 Great Grandchildren.
