Albert Ostergard

Obituary of Albert James Ostergard

Albert James "Bert" Ostergard Bert was born June 20, 1952 to Albin and Vivian Ostergard, the seventh of eleven children. He died suddenly on August 16, 2011. He graduated from Oakville High School and, after a short stint in the Army, went to work at the Simpson Timber Company door plant in McCleary, where he retired in February 2011. Bert and Sandy (Wathne) were married in 1978 and, although later divorced, they remained friends. Shane was born in 1973 to Bert and Ginger. Rusty and Katie were born to Bert and Sandy in 1986 and 1990. Anyone who knew Bert knew that, above all else, he loved his three kids tremendously and they meant the world to him. Bert spent his 59 years living and farming in the Cedarville area of Oakville, raising beef cattle and hay crops. Whether it was spending time with family and friends, a newborn calf, a fresh crop of hay, digging clams or his fishing shack on the banks of the Chehalis River, Bert enjoyed the simple things in life. Bert was preceded in death by his mom just three months ago. He is survived by his three children, Rusty and Katie Ostergard and Shane (Dina) Knaak; siblings, Beverly (Glenn) Fuller, John (Carol) Ostergard, Terry (Julie) Ostergard, Herman (Donna) Ostergard, Roy (Beverly) Ostergard, Gayle (Dave) Olson, Bill Ostergard, Vicki (Wayne) Harris, Sue (Butch) Bennett and Mike Ostergard; and many nieces and nephews. Bert had many friends—too many to name here but you know who you are—and he treasured each of you. To leave memories of Albert or condolences for the family, click on "View Guestbook" below.
