Reva Orock

Obituary of Reva M. Orock

Reva M. Orock Reva M. Orock, age 83, died at Providence St. Peter’s Hospital in Olympia, Washington, on Wednesday, April, 20, 2011. The cause of death was an accidental fall. Reva was born as Reba Kissler on December 15, 1927, to her birth parents Johannes Kissler and Maria Katharina Gettman Kissler, in McCook, Nebraska. The Kisslers were Germans-from-Russia who immigrated from Frank, Saratov, Russia. They had a large family and settled in Nebraska. When Reba was two years old, the family fell on difficult times and the four youngest children were adopted by others. Reba was adopted by Frank Moore and Leta Stiffler Moore, of Boulder, Colorado, and she was known as Reva Marie Moore. Reva attended schools in Boulder and worked on the Frank’s dairy farm with her brother, Herbert. Leta was a worker at the Boulder Sanitarium. The family moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1944, settling in Auburn, Washington. Reva attended Auburn Academy and graduated in 1946. Reva worked until she met and married Billy G. Orock, originally from Pilot Point, Alaska. They married at the Seattle Central Adventist Church on June 23, 1949. They made a home in Auburn, where Bill began a career as a radio and television technician, and Reva was a homemaker. They were both members of the Auburn City Seventh-day Adventist Church. Reva stayed busy raising their four children, participating in church and school activities. She also crocheted beautiful doilies and baby blankets. Reva was overjoyed when she searched and found her birth family in 1955. She treasured the relationships she had with her found sisters. During the summers, Reva managed the home alone while Bill worked as a commercial fisherman, in Bristol Bay, Alaska. Bill and Reva rarely celebrated wedding anniversaries in June, as Bill was fishing, but would instead celebrate the anniversary of their engagement in April. Reva was preceded in death in 2005 by her dear husband of 56 years, Bill. Also preceding were her parents; sisters, Rachel Butz, Miriam Delaney, Ruth Schaeffer, and Rose Schultz; and brothers, Herbert Moore, Paul Proctor and Reuben Kissler. Reva is survived by four children, Sandra Orock (Timothy Thornton) of Olympia, WA; Flora Jeannine Orock-Takele (Honelinge) of Walla Walla, WA; Maria Togstad (Steve) of Auburn, WA; and Billy G. Orock, Jr. of Vancouver, WA. She is also survived by two sisters, Rebecca Strasheim and Pauline Proctor of Colorado; and a beloved niece, Arline Moore of Tumwater, WA. Reva enjoyed visits from her ten grandchildren, Roshelle and Charles Hall; Kylee Thornton; Teddy, Markos, Mickey and Nate Takele; Leta and Matthew Togstad; Andrew Hagen; and a great-granddaughter, Bailey Ann Takele. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, April 29, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., at the Auburn City Seventh-day Adventist Church, 402 29th Street SE, Auburn, Washington. A reception will follow. Inurnment will be at the Columbaria Wall H, Row E, Tahoma National Cemetery, in Kent. To leave memories of Reva or condolences for the family, please click on "View Guestbook" below.
