Obituary of Armando Joseph Nigro

No visitation Armando Joseph Nigro Armando Nigro, 78, passed away on May 26, 2007 of heart failure at the home of his daughter in Olympia, Washington. He was born on September 4, 1928, to Leonardo and Rosina (Di Chiaro), in Rome, New York. Mr. Nigro was married to Eriko Hosoi and had two children, Leonard and Vianca. He retired from the U.S. Army, and served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Armando had a great love of dogs. He was involved in the Northwest Bloodhounds Search and Rescue, served as president for several years, and raised several bloodhounds. Notably, he and his dogs found lost children. Armando loved being a grandfather to his granddaughter, Ashley. They shared a special relationship. Armando is survived by his son, Leonard Nigro; his daughter and son-in-law, Vianca and Richard Aarts, and his special granddaughter Ashley Aarts; a brother, Joseph Nigro, of Michigan; and sisters, Mary Cataldi, North Carolina, and Anne Varner, New York. He leaves behind his companion dog, Mary. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Eriko Nigro; parents Leonardo and Rosina Nigro; a brother, Dominick Nigro and a sister, Carmel Squallace. A “Celebration of Life” will be held at the VFW on June 8, 2007 at 6:00 P.M., located at 2902 ½ Martin Way E., in Olympia.
