Obituary of Mary Nightingale

Mary Nightingale was born on June 16, 1930 in Seattle Washington to Livingston and Ruth (Bailey) Latourette. After an extended illness Mary passed away peacefully on October 4, 2009 at St. Peters Hospital in the comfort of her children. Mary attended Issaquah High School and Whitman College, where she met and married Royce Lockart. They lived in Hawaii, Washington, Maryland, Texas and Delaware. In 1981, Mary married William Nightingale and moved to Olympia. Mary leaves behind her devoted husband, Bill; her three children and their spouses, Michael Lockart (Patty), David Lockart (Linda) and Susan Greene (John); Six grandchildren, Jason Lockart (Crystal), Maxwell Greene (Summer), Heather Frampton (William), Alexander Greene, Breanne Lockart and Daniel Lockart; and two great-grandchildren, Micaela Lockart-Sliger and Tristan Lockart; a brother, Harold Latourette; and three sisters, Patricia Lucas, Jean Medina, and Therese Hopkins; and Bill’s daughter Noel Peterson (Jim) and their children, Leila, Cosmo, and Dexter. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary gave of herself freely and openly to her family and friends throughout her lifetime. She was warm, loving, friendly and enjoyed laughter. Everyone loved Mary. She worked as a personnel clerk for E.I. DuPont and enjoyed family gatherings and reunions, gardening, painting, and especially bridge. She was a Life Master and member of the American Contract Bridge League. Mary’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to extended family, dear friends, devoted neighbors, the staff of the Providence Sound Hospice, and the nursing staff on the oncology floor at St. Peters Hospital, all for their extraordinary loving care and kindness to Mary and her family, especially during the last months of her life. A celebration of Mary’s Life will be held at Funeral Alternatives of Washington at 11:00 a.m. on October 8th, 2009; 455 North Street SE, Olympia. A reception will follow the service.
