Obituary of Charles Nelson

visitation beginning at 2:00 pm prior to service time, Saturday, August 27, 2005 Masonic Center, 521 North St SE, Tumwater Charles Thomas Nelson, 81, of Tenino, died Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at home. He was born July 2, 1924 in Snohomish to Charles Isaac and Anna (Gilbert) Nelson. The family moved to Olympia where he lived most of his life. He married Dorothea Burkenbine in Olympia in 1945, she preceded him in death in October 1993. He served in the Navy from 1942 to 1946 as a pilot. He was a mechanic and owned and operated an auto wrecking yard. Tom enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and traveling. He was a member of the Elk’s Lodge, the Eagles Lodge and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his son, Thomas I. Nelson, of Olympia; sister, Helen Allen of Alaska; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A daughter, Charlote Nelson, preceded him in death. There will be a visitation 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 27, 2005, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 pm at Masonic Center, 521 North St SE, Tumwater. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Memorial Park, Tumwater.
