Obituary of Doris Nakano

Doris Nakano Doris Jane (Nana) Nakano, age 77, was a lifetime resident of Centralia, born on December 31, 1934 to Lucy Myrtle and Johan Conrad Wohld. She was one of five children. On September 12, 1953, she married David Sether Nakano and they just celebrated 58 years of an adventurous life together. They went on to have seven children, Michael James Nakano of Chehalis, Debra Paul-Foster and husband Mike of Rochester, Dorothy Christine Butterfield and husband Larry of Centralia, Martin David Nakano and wife Carol of Chehalis, William Conroy Nakano of Olympia, Lawrence Alan Nakano of Centralia, and Charles Jeffrey Nakano of Centralia. She has 18 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and her brother, Everett Wohld and his wife Edna. Doris and David were blessed to have almost all their children live close by, which made for a revolving door at their home, but they wouldn’t have had it any other way. Doris enjoyed gardening, crocheting, puzzles, her six poodles, taking care of her large family, playing cards, genealogy, her grandchildren’s sports, and traveling. She was an avid fan of the Mariners baseball team. She also bowled for more than 20 years, up until this Spring; she and her team won numerous trophies and enjoyed years of laughter and camaraderie. Doris and David still resided at the family residence where they raised their children on a small farm that everyone still has wonderful memories of. She and her husband created a logging company in the early 70s, where she worked side by side with her husband and children, as well as doing the bookkeeping. The family would like to acknowledge their appreciation of the staff at Centralia and Olympia Providence Hospitals who took such good are of Doris. Their special kindness will be rewarded with wings some day. Doris passed away September 28, 2011 due to complications of Leukemia. She was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings, Dorothy Fode, Shirley Mooney and Paul Wohld; and one grandson, Kristopher.
