Javad Naini

Obituary of Javad Naini

Javad Naini, of Olympia passed away on December 22, 2009 at age 65 following several years of struggle with cancer. Javad was born in 1944 in Mashhad, Iran. He came to the United States in 1964, and resided in Washington State. He arrived here with little in his pocket and left it forty some years later leaving a comfortable living for his wife and children. Following graduation in electrical engineering from the University of Washington Javad began his career in computer technology. After working in private sector, he joined the Washington State government service in 1975 where his career progressed to management of information technology. He was one of the earliest pioneers of Internet technology for Washington state government. Javad retired in year 2000 from the Department of Labor and Industries. He continued his career in consulting services for private sector until 2002. Javad was equally proud of his Iranian and American cultures. He believed that at the end, a measure of a man’s life is not so much what he thought of himself, but what others thought of him. Javad strived to help others. Before the onset of his illness, he was a volunteer at the Providence Saint Peter Hospital of Olympia. He was proud of his fight with cancer, and was grateful to those who helped him in his struggle. He also mentored the younger generation and was a source of inspiration to his friends. His interests were sailing, Iranian traditional music and Western music of all genres especially American Blues. He was a regular contributor to Public Radio. Javad also loved flying, socializing and writing his memoirs. He authored the first family tree and history for the Naini family. He also documented and published the first design and construction plans of the musical instrument, Iranian santur. http://www.luth.org/plans/dulcimers.htm#plan56 Javad is survived by his wife of 36 years, Hamideh, son Pasha of Olympia, daughter Roya of Seattle, granddaughter Quinn of Black Diamond, sister Eshrat and brother Nemat of Iran, and his extended (Naini) family of Bellevue, Washington. Javad’s wish was to be forgiven according to Moslem traditions, and that his immediate and extended family live together in harmony. He regretted not having contacted his family and friends individually before his death. Javad’s last wishes were that his family and friends celebrate his life with the joy that can only come from togetherness, and knowledge that he loved everyone. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to KUOW public radio, http://KUOW.org/ Gravesite location information may be found at: http://www.masonicmemorialpark.com/DB_interface/Pre-Lookup.asp Please leave your memories of Javad and condolences for the family by clicking on the "view guestbook" link below.
