Obituary of Helena Susan Mott

1:00 to 1:45 p.m. The Masonic Lodge 521 North Street SE, Tumwater, WA Helena Susan “Sue” Mott, of Yelm, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, with her family by her side. She was born October 8, 1922 in Seattle to Harold M. and Helena McLaren (Lebeter) Stumer. She grew up in the Hood Canal area and had lived in the Olympia area since 1950, before moving to Yelm in 1990. On August 30, 1945 she married Frederick Mott at her parent’s home in Olympia. Fred passed away in 2002. Sue had worked for Pioneer Title Company in Olympia for 25 years and was a member of National Mortgage Women. She had the honor of speaking for the re-dedication of Fort Eaton, in the Evergreen Valley, in 2003. She was the only person still living that had attended the original dedication in 1932. She was passionate about helping others, delivering meals to others for the Salvation Army "Meals on Wheels" program for 30 years. She and Fred were active with his Class of 1940 reunions and gatherings which she continued following his passing in 2002. She loved to garden and grow indoor plants, English gardens were a favorite. She liked antiquing, theater and to travel. She has visited many destinations including England, Scotland, Wales, Mexico, Hong Kong and China to name a few. She also loved the Oregon coast. Bagpipes were a musical delight for her. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Elizabeth Huseby of Anacortes; son, Christopher of Yelm and daughter, Sheila of Olympia; four grandchildren, Brian Mott, Bret Mott, Kara Bowman and Darin Huseby; one grandchild, Kenneth, died at the age of eight and her only sister, Marguerite Murdzek, died in 1998. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Salvation Army for Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m., Monday, May 15, 2006 at The Masonic Center, 521 North St. SE, Tumwater. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm at the Masonic Memorial Park.
