Obituary of David Jacob Morrow

David Jacob Morrow The family of David Jacob Morrow is saddened to announce his passing on January 25, 2012. When Dave would read the newspaper each day, he would scan the obituaries and exclaim, “I’m not in the paper today!” He had a great sense of humor and loved to have a good time. We believe he laughed all the way to heaven--celebrating his freedom from illness and leaving all worries behind. David was born on July 14, 1936, in Kirkland, WA. Soon after, his family moved to the shore of Olympia’s Eld Inlet where he would reside for the majority of his life. David attended Griffin Elementary School and graduated from Olympia High School in 1954 before joining the Army. After his military service, he attended Centralia College where he met Sharon Bryson. They were married for 38 years. They lived in Tacoma for 11 years before building their waterfront home in Olympia that he designed. Dave studied at Pacific Lutheran University and St. Martin's College to obtain his Civil Engineering degree. He worked as a professional civil engineer for the Washington State Department of Transportation for more than 30 years. After retirement, he consulted for Bovay Northwest Inc. of Bremerton before embarking on his second career at HD Fowler Co. of Bellevue where he worked with his son, Joe, in their sub-metering division. Dave was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Olympia Elks, and was a devoted booster of sports programs at Capital High School. He coached youth baseball for many years. David is preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Mary Morrow of Olympia. He is survived by his brother, Terry Morrow (Pamela) of Tacoma, WA; his four children, Daniel Morrow (Christine) of Phoenix, AZ, Joseph Morrow (Teresa) of Bothell, Brenda Baker (Alan) of Olympia and Seattle, and Bethany Crowell (Jerry) of Bothell; and his five grandchildren: Andrew, Alex and Abigail Morrow, Ashley Baker and Heather Hartman. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at South Sound Manor, 455 North Street SE, Tumwater, 98501. Reception immediately following. In Dave’s honor, the family suggests gifts to the American Diabetes Association. Please leave memories of David or condolences for the family in the Guestbook below.
