Maggie was the fifth of six children born to Joseph and Grace (Dusch) Frank. Maggie received her Bachelor’s and her Master’s in Library Science degrees from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Maggie married Benjamin Wells, and they moved to California. Maggie and Ben had two children, Ellen and Steve. The marriage ended in dissolution. In July, 1974, Maggie met John “Jack” Moore at a Unitarian Church Family Camp in Mendocino, California. They were married in December, 1975, and lived in Rancho Palos Verdes, Santa Clara, and Los Gatos, before settling in Aptos, California. They travelled the world together, built a lovely home overlooking the ocean, and were well known for their hospitality. They shared a love of Shakespeare, and enjoyed annual trips to see plays in Ashland. Maggie was a reference librarian at the San Jose Public Library. After her retirement, she took up painting and was actively involved in the Santa Cruz Art League. She also enjoyed the television show “Jeopardy,” crosswords, and gardening. Maggie was a voracious reader, and always had a book in her hand. Maggie was also a passionate Democrat and feminist. Her political activism included demonstrating for equal pay and rights for women, and supporting numerous causes for peace, justice, equality and the environment. Maggie lived by the motto “Art before dishes.” She will be remembered for her acerbic wit and keen intelligence. In 2007, Maggie and Jack relocated to Patriot’s Landing in DuPont, Washington to be closer to family. In 2010, Maggie moved to Mother Joseph Care Center where she resided until her death. The family would like to extend their thanks and heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Jane Geraci, and to caregivers and staff at both Mother Joseph Care Center and Patriot’s Landing for their loving care of Maggie.
