Obituary of Roy D. Montijo

No visitation Roy D. Montijo Roy D. Montijo, 88, died of natural causes on Friday, September 21, 2007 at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA. He was a resident of Lodge I at RooLan Healthcare Facility in Lacey, WA for the last four years. He previously resided at his native home in San Diego, CA . During World War II he served on board the USS Wasp, the USS Card, and the USS Aragonne in both the Pacific and Atlantic Theaters. After his service he began his career as a self-employed Commercial Sign Painter until his retirement. He is survived by his daughter, Marie Vinton (Patrick) of Olympia, WA, son Hilbert Montijo (Darlene) of Santee, CA, granddaughter Ryann Montijo-Nowak (Steven) of Jacksonville, FL, grandsons Ian Vinton of West Jordan, UT, Aaron Vinton of Tumwater, WA and three great grandchildren, Skyler and McKendrick Vinton of UT and great granddaughter Taylor Nowak of FL. The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Peter Hospital, the staff of RooLan Healthcare and the many others who graciously cared for Roy and his wife. Roy was preceded in death by sons, Richard and Charles. Presentacion, his wife of 55 years, preceded him in death last year. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lacey, WA. A committal service with military honors will follow at 1:30pm at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. Friends may leave online condolences for the family by clicking on "View Guestbook" below.
