Guillermo Mojica

Obituary of Guillermo Mojica

Guillermo Mojica was born in Puerto Rico on July 4, 1917. He was a World War II Veteran. After the war, he went to work as a foreman at the Carter Hotel in New York, which happens to still be there. He retired in July of 1979.He was definitely a car guy and had some of the coolest muscle cars. He was also quite the handy man, always working on his house. Guillermo's interests were farming, fruit and vegetable gardening, raising chickens, ducks and other small farm animals. He was married to Carmen Mojica, also born in Puerto Rico, on June 6, 1920. She was a great wife, mother, and grandmother, and by far, the best cook ever. She could shop like there was no tomorrow, and was always looking for a good sale. Carmen and Guillermo had quite the sweet tooth, they loved their candy. They enjoyed 68 years of marriage together. They moved from Puerto Rico to Washington State to be with their family in Olympia. Carmen passed away very peacefully on June 17, 2006 to be with the Lord. Nearly a year later, Guillermo also very peacefully, joined her and the Lord on June 8, 2007. Both Carmen and Guillermo died at their daughter’s home surrounded by family. They are survived by their daughter Carmen Matos, son William Mojica, also a veteran, six grandchildren, eight great-grand children ,and one great, great - grandchild. Carmen and Guillermo will be missed very much by family and friends, and have left a void in our lives that can never be filled. They will always be in our memories, and more importantly, in our hearts. When our time comes, we all look forward to seeing them again in Heaven. My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life. Psalm 119:50 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. Philippians 1:21
