Obituary of Kenneth Mizuyabu

Kenneth Mizuyabu Kenneth Mizuyabu, 52, passed away July 14, 2011 in Olympia, Washington. He was born August 23, 1958 to Yukiharu and Reiko Mizuyabu in Naha-shi, Okinawa, Japan. He was a Canadian citizen and lived most of his life in various cities in Canada. He attended the University of Guelph in Ontario, and the University of Wilfrid Laurier in Waterloo, receiving a BA in chemistry and biology. He also attended the Honeywell Institute in Toronto, where he learned computer programming. He had multiple jobs in Canada, was a database computer programmer in Washington, and was recently employed by DSHS. Ken married Julie K. Daniels on March 28, 2005 in Olympia. He was a wonderful and loving husband and partner. He was funny, intelligent, personable, trustworthy and kind. Ken also was a true friend to many, and would always go the extra mile to help others. He loved his family and friends, and came to love Jesus too through his struggle with cancer. Ken loved to fish. He found peace on the river, and enjoyed the early morning quiet and beauty of nature. He loved being in the outdoors and enjoyed hiking and snow shoeing. He also loved to play ice hockey and was actively involved in sharing his skills. He coached Tacoma clubs and was a member of the National Hockey Association. He enjoyed the rush of ice skating, the competition, and use of energy and skills. Ken also was trained in karate and was a member of the Ontario Karate Association. Ken is survived by his wife, Julie; mother, Reiko; brother, Ed; sisters, Lilian and Linda; nieces, Megan and Emika; and nephews, Tyler and Kenta. He was preceded in death by his father, Yukiharu.
