Obituary of Robert A. Miller

Robert A. Miller Robert A. Miller, a resident of Rainier since 2004, returned home to Jesus on December 25, 2011. Ram, as he was known by most, was the youngest of four children born to Adolph and Anna (Jagger) Miller in Ludington, MI on October 25, 1923. In December 1942, he joined the U.S. Navy and served as a “hard hat” diver aboard the submarine rescue ship, USS Chewink. After WWII, he was stationed at San Diego, CA until his discharge in December 1949. While in San Diego, he met his future wife, Beverly. They married in September 1950. He retired in 1985 after nearly 24 years in the Lockheed-Martin Skunk Works division as a flight line mechanic, during which time he helped maintain such planes as the SR-71 and the first F-117 Nighthawk Stealth Fighter. Later, he served as Chaplin at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post 1660 in Sacramento, CA. Ram moved to Washington to be near his daughter in 2004, after the death of his wife. Ram is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David and Marlene Miller of Alexander, Arkansas, his daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and John Foster of Rainier, Washington, his granddaughters, Amy Foster, Christina Merritt, Angela Baldessari, Betty Downey, and Robin Bean, his grandson, Robert Miller, as well as 11 great grandchildren.
