Obituary of Melvin B. Miller

NA Melvin Miller Melvin Miller passed away on May 18, 2011 after a short ilness. He was born in Nampa, Idaho on August 23, 1944 to Glenn and Bessie Miller and raised in Boise, Idaho. He joined the Navy in 1966 serving Vietnam aboard the hospital ship Repose. After the Navy, he moved to the Seattle area and continued his education eventually graduating from Tacoma General School of Nursing. He worked in several different areas of nursing, retiring from St. Peter Hospital after 25 years in 2007. He learned to play golf as a child while caddying on the golf course in Boise for pocket money and continued playing his whole life. Mel loved the water and some of his fondest memories are of "motoring" around Puget Sound in our boat. He was a PADI certified scuba diver and a member of the VFW post 318. Mel loved people and had a compassionate and caring heart. He would do anything for friend or family and will be greatly missed. His biggest love of the last 6 years were his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Judy; daughters, Christine; and Kimberly (Dan) Bunge: sons, Byron (Doreen); Adam (Krista); and Ryan (Lindy); and six grandchildren, Juliana, Taylor, Reid, Dylan, Eva and Eli. A special thanks to all his family and friends for their help and support during his ilness, and to Hospice for their compassion and help. Arrangements with Funeral Alternatives of Washington.
