Mary Miller

Obituary of Mary Louise Miller

Mary Louise Miller On October 9, 2011, Mary Lou joined her Savior Jesus. She fought a courageous battle with pulmonary disease. Her family was at her side when she entered heaven. Mary Lou’s lifelong passion was to act as an inspiration to others as a teacher. She brought this calling to the preschool and children at Sacred Heart Parish. Mary Lou was beloved by her students and their parents, and all the people she touched with her love of knowledge and education. Mary Lou spent most of her life teaching the word of God through many ministries, including Catechism, Cursillo, Catholic ministries, preschool and elementary education. Mary Lou’s ministerial programs were spread over Michigan, Oregon, Montana, Nebraska, Tennessee and Washington. She was the first female certified pastoral minister in the Diocese of Helena in Montana. Mary Lou was an active member in the Catholic Church in every community that she lived. She loved to teach and spread the word of God, giving her time and knowledge in the communities where she lived. She loved to travel, especially with her husband, Dan, and the Christian Ministries group on Alaskan Cruises. She also loved to travel to various parts of the country to visit her children and grandchildren. Mary Lou was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lacey, Washington, where she taught until her very last days on earth. We know Mary Lou is in a better place with the Lord, but we know she will certainly miss the Sunday morning breakfast group (you know who you are)! Mary Louise was born to Frederick and Nancy Cody on January 22, 1941 in Grosse Ponte, Michigan. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Daniel Miller of Olympia, Washington, and two sisters, Ricky Cody and Angela Cody. Mary Louise is also survived by four children: Dan and Theresa Miller of Bozeman, Montana, Tim and Danette Miller of Gilbert, Arizona, Jerry and Chris Miller of Peoria, Arizona and Katie and Jeff Sokolik of Bellingham, Washington. She also will be dearly missed by her 11 grandchildren and by her extended family whom she loved as her own! In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Sacred Heart Preschool in Lacey, Washington. Please leave memories of Mary Lou or condolences for the familly in the Guestbook below.
