Obituary of JoAnn Middleton

JoAnn "Jodi" Middleton Jodi Middleton, 62, passed away January 25, 2011, in Olympia, Washington. She was born October 17, 1948, to Ruth Eleanor Russell and Arthur Edward Middleton in San Diego, California. She earned an Associate Degree in x-ray technology from Eastern Michigan University, and worked as a technician is both general x-ray and mammography from 1969 to 1995. She lived in Michigan from 1989 to 2007 before moving to the Olympia/Tumwater area. She was married to David M. Boyer, Jr. from 1974 to 1982, and to Pete Vandenberg from 1985 to 1993. Jodi was kind, fun, stubborn, curious, friendly, and persistent. She was a woman with strong instincts and believed in miracles. She had several interests and hobbies, including sewing, pottery, photography, cats, reading, calligraphy and writing, dancing, going to the beach, watching movies and the nightly news, spending time with her family and friends, and adoring her grandson, Samuel. Jodi was a remarkable spirit, determined to be independent up until the very last day of her life. She struggled with ever-worsening heart problems for many years, but always was able to live on her own and even work a job. Her mind and memory remained sharp and she regularly expressed a deep gratitude for her family and long-time friends. She is greatly missed by those who love her. She is survived by her daughter Corinne Boyer; grandson, Samuel Millard; and brother, Stephen Middleton, all of Shelton, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Danny Middleton; and son, David M. Boyer, III. To leave memories of Jodi or condolences for the family, please click on "View Guestbook" below.
