We were neighbors of Ray's on Cooper Point in Olympia in the '60s and liked and admired the Meredith family. Our children played together, especially Mark and our son Martin and Ann and our daughter Anne. Ray stood for all the right things and was a respected member of all the communities he was involved in.
"Remember your servant Raymond, O Lord, according to the favor which you bear unto your people, and grant that, increasing in knowledge and love of you, he may go from strength to strength in the life of perfect service in your heavenly kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, world without end. Amen"

Ray was our wonderful friend and my patient for many good years. His parents, Francis and Clark, were a delight to know also as patients and friends. (Francis used to scratch my back on calling on her during hospital rounds.) The last time I played tennis, and lost, were games with Ray in Palm Desert about 10 years ago. Wonderful memories of both Ray and Jean remain with us. We sure had some great times together.

Was so sorry to read of Ray's passing. I have known him since he and Ray Lewis shared an apartment in Raymond -- long before he married Jeanne. Also knew his parents, brothers and sister. He was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed. He was a personal friend of my parents and also professionally involved as a member of the Board of Directors of Raymond Federal, of which my Dad was President. My condolences to the family!

Ray was a former business neighbor at Meredith's in Raymond when I was manager of the J. C. Penney store next door. After Ray left our community, I also followed in his footsteps on the board of the Raymond Foundation. I will always remember him fondly as a good friend.

Ray was one of the nicest men I ever knew. That is absolutely true. He was the classic ''nice guy'' in the best sense of the word and, as far as I could tell, everything he did, he really enjoyed, whether it was playing tennis, following the Huskies, enjoying food, hanging out with friends or enjoying his family. I didn't get to see him all that often, but I will miss him. I don't think I can re-arrange my schedule to attend the funeral, but I will try.

I met Ray through the Olympia Rotary. I enjoyed our frequent discussions, and was surprised to learn that many years earlier we met each other at the "Meredith's" Store on Mercer Island. Ray's kindness serves as a model for others. He will be missed.

Jannie, Mark, Todd and Anne - I was so sad to hear about your dad's death. He was always a favorite of mine. I always thought you were so lucky; he was the epitome of my ideal dad. You will all miss him in so many ways, yet the memories you have of him will make his life worthwhile. He was a wonderful human being. May God grant you comfort and serenity in the face of your loss. Love, Aldean

Dear Janet,
You probably don't remember me from High School, but I remember you very well with good memories from our high school years. I lost my Daddy too! I don't think that we are ever ready to say goodby to one of our parents. I hope that you will be comforted and find peace and joy with all of your memories!
