Obituary of Larry David McKenzie

None Larry McKenzie Larry passed to the Lord on October 14, 2011 in Olympia Washington at the age of 66. He was born on June 7, 1945 in Fort Wright, New York to Raymond (Bill) McKenzie and Helene (Heath) McKenzie. He was raised around White River Jct., Vermont, and always considered it his home town. He joined the Navy at 17 years of age, served 5 years, and made 3 tours of Vietnam. His daughter Lori Ann Aaron, was born in Hawaii at this time. He met the love of his life Gerry Meyer in Bremerton. After a whirlwind courtship of six weeks, they married on May 20, 1967. At that time Larry went to work at the Boeing Company, where he spent his career in Missile production. He retired at age 54, to the Sunrise Farm in the small town of Shelton that he loved. This is where he and Gerry together built their dream farm home and life. Larry is survived by his wife Gerry of Shelton, his daughter Lori Ann Aaron of Renton, brother Robert McKenzie of New Hampshire, sister Jeanette McKenzie Logston of Utah, his sis, Shirley Winder of Nevada, and his countless grandchildren. Larry touched many lives, especially children. To several generations of children, he was Grandpa Larry. For the grandkids every moment with Larry was an experience filled with love, laughter, singing, dancing and life teachings that will be with them a lifetime. For the adults he brought out the child in you again. His hobbies were cars, guns, and children. He belonged to the Yesteryear Car Club and the Pickering Community Club. Larry was a smile we will hold in our hearts always.
