Obituary of Jack McGill

Jack McGill Jack McGill died peacefully at home Sunday, April 15, 2012 after a 15-month fight with lung cancer. Jack was born October 26, 1941 in Olympia, Washington to Vincent and Ethel McGill. Jack was a man of many hats. He worked for the Department of Transportation for many years. After leaving the state, Jack owned a Yamaha shop and was a legal investigator and assistant for Ditlevson, Rodgers & Jarrett, Attorney’s at Law. Jack also drove school buses for the Tumwater School District before retiring in 2006. He loved the kids that rode his bus and they loved him in return. Jack loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. He had many hobbies. His first, and dearest to his heart, was cars old and new. Jack drove a dragster named El Bandito and he set many records. He also loved camping and fishing with family in his spare time. Staircase became his favorite camping location where he spent many summers roughing it in a tent and bathing in the ice cold river. Jack always said that he never met a stranger, and this was very true. He could strike up a very animated conversation with anyone, anytime, and entertain them for hours. His boisterous laugh was always present in everything he did which brought laughter and smiles to a lot of people. Jack is survived by his wife, DeAnn; son, Jack; daughter, Shannon and son-in-law Shawn May; grandchildren, Jackie, Joel, Jeremiah, Sheridan, McKenzie and McKenna; sister, Darlene McCulloch; nieces, Kathy, Kim, and Kari; and nephew, Bobby. Jack also had a stepdaughter, Melanie Dudley and her husband JR; stepson, Jim Workman and Maggie; and four step grandchildren, Hannah, Haylie, JC, and RJ; and mother in-law, Darlene Marchel.
