Obituary of James L. McFayden

James L. McFayden, 85, Tumwater, died February 13, 2006. He was born February 26, 1920 in Graham, North Carolina to James and Blanch McFayden. He is survived by his special friend, Nina Carr of Steilacoom, two son’s, Pat of Tumwater and Dennis and his wife Marsha of Olympia. Three grandchildren, Adam of Puyallup, Katie of Arlington, and Tamra of Olympia; five great grand children; one great great grandchild and a sister Edith of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his wife Jessie, of 47 years and a son, Kelly. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, American Legion and the 40 et 8. James graduated from Graham High School before enlisting in the Army where he was a veteran of WWII and a purple heart recipient. He lived in North Carolina, Arkansas and Oklahoma before moving to Washington in 1956. In 1982 he retired from Fort Lewis where he had been the Inspection Supervisor for the Transportation Motor Pool. He enjoyed golf, restoring old cars and travel. James will long be remembered for his sense of humor and his smile. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Shriners Hospital.
