After three years of enduring the complications arising from ALS, he passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at his Olympia Home. With him were his beloved family and his loved ones. Lonnie worked in Health care for many years before his retirement. He was a staunch environmentalist and never retired from his goal of finding ways to protect our Planet and all living beings. He enjoyed cooking and eating delicious food; his cat Scotty; Buddha; Osho; Lao Tsu; Tagore; Rumi; bicycling; reading; activism; sharing his views on the broken political system; working for peace; and promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship. And he enjoyed the love of his family and friends. The family wants to thank Soo, Rajena, Terry, Phyllis, and Dr. Carter for their loving support of him and his medical needs and for their friendship. Thank you to Lonnie’s dear friends for the support and compassion that was shown as our father went through this process – you know who you are. We would also like to extend our appreciation and thanks to Monty from Compassion and Choices for his help in stepping through the Death with Dignity process and his continued support of Lonnie and his family. Lonnie did not wish for a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, Lonnie asked that donations be made to Compassion and Choices. Please leave your remembrances in the guestbook below.
