Obituary of Mathias Charles Maresh

Mathias Charles Maresh Mathias Maresh, 93, passed away March 1, 2011, in Olympia, Washington. He was born to Mathias and Emma Maresh on June 22, 1917, in Valley City, North Dakota. He married Myra June Nommensen on June 6, 1943, in Olympia. She passed away in March 2005. Mathias served in the Army during WWII as a sharpshooter, and was among the first to land at Normandy Beach on D-Day. After the war, he worked for the Olympia Brewery until he retired at age 65. Mathias loved life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, and mini farming. He is survived by daughter, Merry Alexander of Olympia; sister, Josephine Wick; and sister-in-law, Jean Maresh. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 11 of his 12 siblings, Jack, Tom, Lawrence, Alvin, Ed, Margaret, Helen, Alice, Irene, Marian, and Francis.
