My Thoughts are with the entire Mapp family and all those who had the honor of having Missy in their lives. I met Missy whan I became a charter member of the "Mather Gold Dusters M/C". I lovingly referred to her as "mom", as she was the type of woman that anyone given the chance would choose as a mom. I will never forget at one of the "Gold Dusters" club dinners, when the guest speaker could not make it, Missy and I put on a tongue-in-cheek sesame street puppet show for the members with my "grover" hand puppet. That is on of the memories that I tell stories about until this day. Missy, now you have a bottom-less gas tank, and your Sportster kick starts on the first kick... enjoy the endless roads in Heaven... L. Leidolph - ljleidolph.com

You, Missy, occupied a place that was yours alone in this cousin's heart. That place is (and forever shall be) the place I shall go to whenever I recall you; your quick wit; your engaging smile; and your wonder filled view of life. We miss you.

Don,
My condolences to you and yours. Missy was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed. My fondest memories are of "Mom" as she herded her Gold Duster "kids" together for dinner in front of the campfire when we had our weekend road trips. I'll miss her infectious laugh and bubbly spirit the most. KDitty

Don-
I am sorry that I was not able to get up there more often, and especially during the last weeks and days. Missy will always be in my heart as one of the most beautiful people that I have ever met. As the party in Heaven has gained one more person, know that God will never forsake you even though the pain is so very great. Hold on to your faith as your friend and your friends will hold on to you!
Your friend,
"G"

Don,
Missy was one of those extra special people that don't come along too often. How very lucky we were to have known and loved her. I'm willing to bet that she's somewhere now acting childlike with the kids and maybe being told to "keep that noise down in there" Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Missy and I began our connection in friendship through our mutal writing of poetry. It continued for many years. And even though our visiting became less and less she remained in my heart and thoughts and this last year I noticed her birthday on my calendar and thought, "Rats, I forgot to send her a card. Oh well I'll give her a call." And then I saw in the newspaper that my dear poetry friend had died and I started to cry. What I remember most is her giggling laugh and her many Missisms such as "What do you want, how much does it cost, are you willing to pay the price." I found her to be philosophical and just as much an expert in "psychology" or the study of human behavior as me with my advanced degrees in these subjects. She had an amazing grasp of life and all of the dymanics within it. She gave me an african violet that she had started from a cutting. I kept it happily in my counseling office for many years now and it has bloomed regularly. I thought of her every time I enjoyed its beauty. Even though I am a gardener I have never done a cutting start and was amazed at her confidence in doing this and her assuring me it is very simple to do.
OK Missy maybe I am ready to start a new life from a cutting. Will you watch over me as I do it? I think you just might!
Don, I always admired you and Missy in your devotion to one another and her love, admiration and tender understanding of you which she regularly expressed to me. Love, love and more love to your soul Missy. And bless you Don in whatever pursuits you have planned.

Missy will live on in not only my heart but also in so many that were blessed to know her .... I've heard it said so many times that "OUR" Missy never knew a stranger. My little girl will miss the little girl in Missy and my adult will miss the Mother who took it upon herself to mother everyone she touched ... You will never be completely alone Don ... we have to keep up the motor home adventures where Missy's spirit will stay even more so alive. I feel so many blessings to have known such a special and exceptional woman.

Don and Family,
I read all of the comments in your guest book, and I "second" every one of them. You and Missy have been my friends for 25 years (Damn! that time went fast!) Missy was one of the strongest influences in my life as a motorcyclist and a novice instructor in 1979. Missy's and your wisdom gave me the necessary guidance to run for and hold office in a 60-member-strong motorcycle club for 4 years. I will always remember with fondness our impromptu 1998 New Years Eve party at your home in Lacey. And I will treasure my autographed copy of Missy's book of poems. You have my greatest sympathy, for though I've lost a dear friend, I know you have lost much, much more.

You were always there for me,
leaning on your strong knee,
a voice so full of encouragement and smiles
even from far across the miles.
I'll be missing you forever and a day
wishing you could always stay
where I could reach out
touch, so you could feel,
speak, so you could hear,
the love I feel for you today.
For me, the sun dawns anew,
and to your memory I'll be true.
Whenever my words appear in rhyme,
you're there with me, line by line.
