Obituary of Helen Malroy

HELEN D. MALROY Helen D. Malroy passed away in Olympia, Washington on November 4th, 2008, surrounded by her family, from complications of a sudden stroke. She was born on October 5, 1934 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She resided in Seymour, Tennessee for 15 years until 2006 when she returned to Washington. She was of the Baptist faith. She attended schools in Knoxville, Los Angeles and Long Beach, California. She was a graduate of Long Beach Polytechnic High School. Prior to her marriage she worked for Bell Telephone Company and the Bechtel Corporation. She met Scott while she was working in Long Beach. They were married on February 19, 1956 at the Delta Avenue Baptist Church in Long Beach, where they resided and had four children before moving to Washington State in 1974. Helen was a devoted housewife, fully committed to her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She adored her grandchildren; they were her pride and joy. She was taken from us prematurely and will be missed by all of us so much. Grandma was a devoted grandmother who cared and loved her grandchildren more than any grandma you could imagine, she loved us more than life itself. She gave the most unconditional love anyone could ever ask for or experience which made her the most special grandma ever. As our grandma, she loved, nurtured, cared, supported and helped develop and shape us as if we were her own. She was always available whenever called upon and always gave the right advice and support with love. She cherished the time she spent with us and as we did with her. And now we will miss the time we cherished with her, not knowing this time would come so soon. She will be in our hearts forever. She was an avid college football and college basketball fan. Every Saturday morning, or any other sport day regardless of football or basketball she would check the television to see if her favorite team was on, the Tennessee Volunteers. We don’t know why, because she would usually only watch the first quarter or first half and turn to another game because watching UT made her too nervous to watch. She is survived by her husband and soul mate of 52 years, Scott, daughter and son-in-law Debra James and Robert, son Gregory, daughter Cindy Ireland, son and daughter-in-law Timothy and Heather, grandchildren Michael and Timothy Moore, Terrence Ireland, and Edward and Nicole James, special brother-in-law Stephen Malroy, step-mother Edith Latham, sister Pat Walker, nephews Kelly and William Gregg. She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Latham, mother, Eva Luedke and sister, Sue Gregg. Please leave condolences online by clicking on "View Guestbook" below.
