Obituary of Alan Main

NA Alan Nelson Main Alan, 73, passed away at his Onalaska home, February 25th, 2012. Alan was born January 21st, 1939 in Shelton to Louise and Allan Main of Potlatch, Washington. He attended grade school in Mineral and Morton, Washington and graduated from Centralia High School, Class of ‘57. Following graduation, Alan joined the U.S. Air Force and worked as a Site Development Engineer. He served in the United States, Germany, Korea, Japan and Greenland. His last assignment took Al and his family to Alaska where he retired after 21 years of military service. Alan then worked as an Industrial Engineer for the North Slope Bureau at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska from which he retired again. He married Mary Jane “Sue” Gibson in 1992 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Alan and Sue lived in Ritzville, Washington before building a home and settling in Onalaska 14 years ago. Alan enjoyed many activities, including the outdoors, fishing, camping, motorcycles, car racing, football, carpentry, cooking and landscaping. He was a member of the fraternal order of the Eagles and the American Legion. His family will remember Alan as a world traveler that was intelligent, modest, funny and practical. He was an amazing and loving man with many talents and an abundance of common sense. He will be sorely missed. Alan is survived by his sons Todd Main of Kirkland, Corey Main of Chewelah and Bruce Kimsey of Napavine; daughter Holly Main of Marysville, brother John Main of Chehalis and his mother Louise Main of Centralia. Alan had one grandchild, Travis Main and two great-grandchildren, Triston and Sydnee Main of Kirkland.
