Even though I only saw Kate a couple of times, I felt that I knew her through my friendship with Steve and Heidi, who were so devoted to her, and she to them. My great grandmother was also named Kate and was also one to explore natural remedies and herbs in staying healthy. She passed to me her herbal book that I've often referred to. The sudden loss of ones parent is devastating and life altering. There are no others on earth who know more about our history, illnesses, losses, success, and who made more of a sacrifice for our existence than our parents and grandparents. No one will love us more. A part of us leaves when they are gone, until we can meet again. I've heard it said that the biggest risk one can take in life is to have a child. Kate and Leo's risk brought them untold happiness and joy when Heidi came into their life, and she showed her love by always being there for them. They were mutually blessed. I believe Kate also thought of Steve as her son, for he had so much respect, love and admiration for her. Like my great grandmother, Kate worked hard in her lifetime. She was able to share much of her free time with Heidi and Steve, who will have good memories of trips and other fun activities shared as a family. My thoughts are with you.

Kate and I met each other at yoga class over 8 years ago, we became very good friends. As a result of the yoga classes, I scheduled yoga luncheons every 3 months so we could all keep in touch. Kate was very health concious, so it was a great surprise to learn of her passing. Kate was a very caring person and very loving.

It was my joy to be both Kate and Leo's pastor for a number of years. Their faith in the Lord Jesus was evident to all. With everyone else, I was shocked by Kate's death. But I'm also comforted by the promise of the Lord - "I have gone to prepare a place for you." I'm thankful that Kate is with the Lord and I look forward to a wonderful heavenly reunion. I regret that I can not attend the service, but please know that you are in our prayers.

As one of the senior fitness instructors at the downtown YMCA, I had the pleasure of leading this remarkable woman in weekly classes. She was a faithful friend who touched my life in so many ways. Her encouragement helped me make the decision to begin teaching the senior fitness classes, and her constant support and sincerity in asking about my sick wife always meant so much to me. I recall the time when I was struggling with finding marching music for our class and she brought me a tape of German martial music to fill this need. This is only one small example of Kate's helpful nature. She was a true friend and she is deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.

We talked the night before you went home to be with the Lord. Who could have imagined that you would be HOME FOR CHRISTMAS.
It has been wonderful knowing you, Kate, and you will be sorely missed but we will most surely meet again in Heaven.
Love from us both...

Because of our friendship over the years, Heidi, I was able to meet and know your Mom also. She was a very caring person and devoted to both you and Steve. I know even though she is not here now, she will remain in your hearts forever.
Take care....Love, Ruthie

Kate was a very special warm, kind and caring lady. My husband Duane was her "Handyman" for many years (with yard work and other jobs) - beginning when she and Leo lived near Black Lake and then continuing when she lived in Eagles Landing. A week before she died - Duane was working for one of her neighbors at Eagles Landing. She came over to visit with him. We are both glad to have known her and will miss her. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Heidi and family.

Kate and her husband were our neighbors when we first moved to Fairview Rd. We were out of touch for awhile but when she joined our church we happy to see her again. We always enjoyed visiting with her.
