Obituary of Norma Lee Loree

Norma Lee (Garrett) Loree Norma Lee (Garrett) Loree passed away December 24, 2010 at St. Peter Hospital, after a 3-year fight with cancer. She was 63. Norma was born in Hollywood, CA, on April 26, 1947, to David and Dorothy (Keil) Garrett. The family soon moved to the Olympia area after Norma was born. She attended Olympia High School, where she played violin and was a member of the Drill Team. Norma married Robert Loree on September 16, 1967. The couple spent the first 18 months of their marriage in Virginia where Robert was stationed after the war. They then moved back to the Olympia area. After 23 years, the couple went their separate ways. In 1974, the first of their two sons was born. David was born February 16 and then, soon to follow, was Jason, who was born on September 27, 1976. Professionally, Norma started out at Grimm’s Collection. She moved on to Twin County Credit Union, where she was employed for 13 years. She then went on to New Market Vocational Skills Center where she taught Financial Services. She loved teaching and she was an inspiration and friend to many of her students. Norma was active in her church and had many beloved friends. She was Clerk of Sessions for 20 years. Norma enjoyed knitting, needlework, traveling and was an avid reader. Most of all, Norma loved being a grandma. Norma was preceded in death by her father, David Garrett. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Garrett, two sisters, Nina (Garrett) Goss and Gloria Garrett, two sons and their wives, David and Gina, Jason and Tommy, and five grandchildren Beth, Jeff, Garrett, Jordyn and Baylee. We knew that afternoon that God was going to call you home. In life we loved you dearly; in death we will do the same. You do not go alone, for a part of us went with you. You left us your love and many wonderful memories. We will miss you Norma. The family asks that donations be made to the New Market Foundation, Norma Loree Scholarship.
