Stationed with Mr. Long at Kami Seya in 1963. Warrant Officer Long
was the KA2KS (base amateur radio club) custodian. He was instrumental
in upgrading the equipment of the club. He was a respected Naval Officer,
and shipmate.

Mrs. Long and family,
You do not know me, but I remember Henry well from our days in Kami Seya, Japan, in the mid-1960s. He was in charge of the ham radio station there for a while called KA2KS, and I was one of several 'hams' in the Navy who used the station often. Henry was always a model officer and a gentleman, and a Navy man 'til the end. I am proud and honored to have served with such a patriot as Henry, and send you and your family wishes for peace and comfort. The world has lost a good man and I share in your grief.
Blessings,
~Whit Cotten

Dear Mrs. Long,
Helen and I wish to extend our deepest sympathy to you and your family on Henry's passing. As you know, I have known Henry for many years. Several years, we were together in West Olympia Rotary and also during our membership years in the Olympia, Yacht Club.
He did communicate with me more recently by e-mail and it was always nice to hear from him. I vividly recall the talk he gave about his experiences at Pearl Harbor. He sure saved many lives. It is hard to believe how many of my old time friends have passed on. We have lost a dear friend.

Dear Mrs. Long, Lynden and family,
I am sorry to hear of Henry's passing. He was a kind and generous man; I still have a pine cone collection he gave me.
