Obituary of Donna Livingood

Donna Livingood Donna was born in Becker County, Minnesota. She lived on a farm in Callaway, Minnesota, with her mother and three brothers after the death of her father of appendicitis. For high school, she lived with her aunts in Mahnomen, where she worked part-time in their mercantile dry goods store. She then attended Morehead State College and graduated with a teaching degree. She taught grades 1-8 in a one-room school house. During WWII, she went to California for a summer with some girlfriends and worked in an ice cream factory—she loved to tell that story! She then returned to Minnesota to teach school and married Lester and started a family. Five children were born in Minnesota and one in Washington. Donna was an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the Women’s Circle and the Wedding Guild. Her hobbies included ceramics, knitting, crocheting, quilting, Garden Club, and playing cards with family. Donna also worked with her husband for 17 years driving mail trucks to Ocean Shores; she loved her job! After retirement, Donna and Lester traveled all over the United States and Canada in their motor home. Donna’s pride and joy was her family—kids and grandkids. One of the last things she said was, “I have a Good Family, a Good Family.” Donna is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lester C. Livingood; children Lana, Ronald, Richard, Barbara, and Betty; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and brothers Waldo and Charles Johnson.
