Obituary of Wilfried Lippmann

None Wilfried “Willie” G. W. Lippmann Wilfried Gunther Wolfgang Lippmann, 73, a longtime resident of Olympia, lost his struggle with cancer July 8, 2011 at Providence St. Peter Hospital. Willie leaves behind his beloved wife, Wendy Lippmann, their two loving sons, Matthew and Marcus Lippmann, three children from a former marriage, Michael, Tom (Diane) and Rebecca Lippmann, two grandchildren, and his sister Rosemarie Pauly of Nurnberg, Germany. Willie was born in Rostock Germany on November 5, 1937, to Hermann and Erika Lippmann. He grew up in Vienna, Austria until 1965. He earned two masters degrees from the University of Vienna and went on to teach biology and physical education for six years. He then immigrated to the United States where his career included serving as a YMCA director, owner of several private businesses and finally ending his working life as a Washington State employee. Retirement left him time to purse his many interests and talents. Throughout his life Willie’s passion was writing and in time he became a published author. In addition, he enjoyed photography, belonged to writers’ groups, book clubs and participated in a variety of senior center activities. His many talents culminated with the performing arts, writing, directing and acting in several Readers Theater Unlimited productions. Willie led an intellectual athletic and creative life for 73 years, fueled by focused energy and endless curiosity. Willie has now turned the last page and his story has ended.
