Obituary of Allen E. Linn

Allen E. Linn Allen E. Linn, 82, a resident of Rochester for 2 years and formerly of Olympia for 30 years, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2007. He was born July 12, 1925, to Earl A. and Lula (Long) Linn in Chehalis, WA. Allen graduated as Class Speaker from Onalaska High School in 1943. He served in the Navy with the 17th C.B.’s in the South Pacific during WWII. Allen married Joyce K. Larsen on June 24, 1967, at Camano Lutheran Church and they made their first home in Thorne Bay, Alaska. Allen began working as a mechanic for Cosmos Timber Co (later US Plywood). He moved to Alaska and worked 17 years for Ketchikan Pulp Co, retiring as Master Mechanic. In 1973 he moved his family back to Washington and worked for Roy Filla Logging, Mayr Bros. Logging and Browning Timber. Allen was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Olympia, and the NRA. He was a member of the Chehalis Eagles and Shelton Elks. Allen loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He shared his love of the outdoors and his mechanical skills with his sons. He enjoyed spending time at their beach home on Camano Island and camping with the Grazers. He also enjoyed boating, clam digging, and harvesting oysters and was an avid reader. Allen was always willing to lend a helping hand to a neighbor or friend in need. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, Rochester; two sons, Eric (Kim) Linn, Rochester, and Earl (Morgan) Linn, Castillion Springs, TN: two sisters, Jean Fitzhugh, Tumwater, and Shirley (Cliff) Oest, Gold Beach, OR: one grandchild, Alexandera Linn, Rochester; brother-in-law, Donald (Jeanie) Larsen, Warm Beach and sister-in-law, Janet (Pete) Flones, Gig Harbor; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank Rhonda and Chuck Chacon at The Retirement Chalet in Rochester and caregivers Maria, Mary, Randy, Cleo and Rachel for their wonderful care of Allen this past year. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at the Masonic Center, 455 North St., Tumwater. Rev. Cecil Thompson will officiate the service.
