Obituary of Donald Milton Lee

Donald Milton LeeDonald passed away peacefully at his Tumwater home on December 12, 2005. Don was born in Seattle in 1929 to Robert and Ella Charlotte Lee. The family moved to Olympia in 1933. Don attended Lincoln Grade School and graduated from Olympia High School in 1947. He continued his education first at Pacific Lutheran University and then at Washington State University, where he was associated with Beta Theta Pi. In 1951 he married his lifelong partner, Margaret Lorraine Henderson. With the onset of the Korean War, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as a faculty member at the General Instructor School in San Antonio, Texas. Back in Olympia, he again went to school at Staint Martin's College and took a job at the Olympia Brewing Company. His career at the brewery lasted 28 years. In 1983 Don was named Vice-President/General Manager of the Olympia/Tumwater Foundation, a position he held until his retirement in 1999. Don's interests included trout fishing, gardening and duck hunting. He is survived by his wife; his brother, Marv; three children, Sheila, Bruce and Bob; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family requests memorial donations, in Don's name, be made to the Olympia/Tumwater Foundation.
