Obituary of Melville LeCompte

Melville LeCompte Melville was born in Washington, D.C., January 20, 1930, and died September 23, 2011 in Olympia, Washington. He attended school in Virginia and California, and served in the United States Army in the Pacific during WWII, receiving an Honorable medical discharge after suffering serious injury. On August 2, 1966, he married Mary Lou Anselin at La Tijera Methodist Church in Los Angeles, California. He then moved to Austin, where Mary Lou was a professor at The University of Texas. Melville attended the University, where he was also employed. Following retirement, the couple traveled extensively, until ill health made this no longer possible. Melville and Mary lived in Tumwater, Washington, from 1997 until 2009, when they moved to Capital Place Retirement Apartments in Olympia. Melville was a wonderful and loving husband and will be sorely missed by his wife and his many friends at Capital Place and around the country. Those who wish may remember him with a donation in his honor to: The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, 1720 Gendy Street, Ft Worth, TX 76107.
